Praise Be to God: The Faculty of Law Journal Is Indexed in Scopus

The Unissula Law Journal, published by the Faculty of Law at Unissula, has become an international journal indexed in Scopus. "Praise be to God for His mercy: for the first time at Unissula, from 14 July 2023 until 13 July 2026 the Faculty of Law's Unissula Law Journal is an international journal indexed in Scopus," said the Rector of Unissula, Prof Dr Gunarto SH MH, on Saturday (15/7/2023).

Prof Gunarto added that, to maintain its reputation as a quality journal, the editorial team must remain steadfast and safeguard standards. He also expressed the hope that the journal's success in being indexed in Scopus would be followed by other journals published by faculties across Unissula.

The Dean of the Faculty of Law, Dr Bambang Tri Bawono SH MH, explained that the Unissula Law Journal was founded in 1987. At that time it appeared in print, continuing until its final print issue in 2011.

From 2012 to 2017 the journal ceased publication. It was then revived in 2018, and in 2020 it obtained Sinta 5 accreditation.

In 2022 it was re-accredited and awarded Sinta 3. In the same year the journal was submitted for Scopus indexing, and — praise be to God — on 6 March 2023 the Unissula Law Journal was indexed in Scopus.

The journal's editorial team comprises: Editor in Chief Gunarto (Scopus ID 56362690100), Universitas Islam Sultan Agung Semarang, Indonesia; and Managing Editor Andri Winjaya Laksana, Faculty of Law, Unissula, Indonesia.

The board of editors includes Toseef Azid (Scopus ID 6507829091), College of Business and Economics, Qassim University, Saudi Arabia; Ong Argo Victoria (Scopus ID 56421868100), ADA Chicago, United States, and International Islamic University Malaysia; and Nur Yusanti Binti Ismon (Scopus ID 57226690753), Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Law, International Islamic University Malaysia.

Other editors are Russel Ong, Taipei University (Taiwan); Muhamad Mustaqim (Scopus ID 57207244848), IAIN Kudus, Indonesia; Rizki Adi Pinandito, Universitas Islam Sultan Agung, Indonesia; Ida Musofiana, Universitas Islam Sultan Agung, Indonesia; Rizal Bagus Prabowo, Sultan Agung Islamic University, Indonesia; and Cahyaningtyas Pangestuti, Sultan Agung Islamic University, Indonesia.

"The journal focuses on legal scholarship, especially discussion of law in the Indonesian and Asian region, which is distinctive and rarely discussed in European countries," said Bambang Tri Bawono.

The significance of the Unissula Law Journal being indexed in Scopus is that it represents international recognition of Unissula in general, and of the Faculty of Law in particular, in the field of research and scholarly publishing. "So the elevation of the Unissula Law Journal, now indexed in Scopus, can in time become a path to helping lecturers advance their careers towards the functional rank of professor," he concluded.
