LPM Suprema of the Faculty of Law Wins Photography and Poetry Competitions at UIN Walisongo

Semarang — LPM Suprema, the student press body of the Faculty of Law at UNISSULA, won prizes in the photography and poetry categories of a national competition held by SKM Amanat of Universitas Islam Negeri Walisongo Semarang.

In the photography competition, Ivan Kenji took first place; the jury judged his photograph the best photographic work in the competition. Not to be outdone, Muhammad Aldi Kurniawan took second place in the same category.

Members of Suprema's documentation division chose the theme of diversity in society, expressed through childhood games, as the overarching idea for their work. They went through a long process of searching for locations and subjects, and finally decided to photograph children who often play games such as kites, marbles, ball games and pushcart races along the East Flood Canal in the Kaligawe area of Semarang. They chose this theme as a reflection and a memoir of their own childhoods spent playing traditional games.

In the poetry competition, Misrof Aditya took second place with his work entitled "Matahari Tenggelam" (Setting Sun). At Suprema, Misrof Aditya focuses on literary work and often writes poems and verses that he posts on social media. With this poem he was named runner-up for best poetic work. This was his first competition, and taking second place straight away is quite remarkable.

The photography and poetry competition held by SKM Amanat of UIN Walisongo Semarang was a national-level event. The photographs and poems entered were submitted by students and members of the public from various parts of Indonesia.

The achievements of LPM Suprema through Ivan, Aldi and Misrof are proof that student press work can also be of very high quality. Quality and creativity carry great weight in competitions of this kind. These achievements also prove that students of the Faculty of Law can excel outside the field of law. In this respect LPM Suprema has taken a leap forward by succeeding in photography and poetry — fields outside the law.
