Unissula Welcomes Three International Students on KNB Scholarships
Universitas Islam Sultan Agung (Unissula) has once again strengthened its internationalisation efforts by admitting three international students holding Developing Countries Partnership (KNB) Scholarships for 2026. The three come from Kenya, Nigeria and Vietnam and will study at bachelor's, master's and doctoral level at the Faculty of Law.
They are Hadija Adan Tari from Kenya in the Bachelor of Laws programme; Muhammad Alhaji Babayo from Nigeria in the Master of Laws programme; and Khuc Thi Phuong Anh from Vietnam in the Doctoral Programme in Law. Their presence also demonstrates the appeal and international reputation of the Faculty of Law at Unissula, which is able to attract students from various parts of the world.
The admission of these international students follows the selection process for the 2026 KNB Scholarship organised by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia. Based on the results of the plenary selection meeting held on 10–12 June 2026, the government designated 200 scholarship recipients — 50 undergraduate, 100 master's and 50 doctoral students — to continue their studies at leading universities across Indonesia.
The Rector of Unissula, Prof Dr Gunarto SH MH, expressed his gratitude for the trust the government has once again placed in Unissula as one of the universities hosting KNB Scholarship holders.
In his view, Unissula's success in admitting international students through the KNB programme is evidence of growing global recognition of the quality of its education, its academic governance and the learning atmosphere the university has cultivated.
"This trust is a mandate we must uphold by providing the best educational services. The presence of international students will enrich the academic environment on campus, broaden the global outlook of our academic community, and strengthen Unissula's position as a university that actively contributes to building world civilisation through education," he said (22/6/2026).
Prof Gunarto added that Unissula offers not only academic excellence but also an educational environment that integrates knowledge, technology and Islamic values. International students will therefore gain a learning experience oriented not only towards mastering knowledge but also towards forming character and leadership.
The KNB Scholarship programme is one of Indonesia's instruments of educational diplomacy, aimed at giving citizens of developing countries the opportunity to pursue higher education in Indonesia. Besides receiving quality education, recipients also have the chance to become acquainted with Indonesian culture and to build international networks that can support development in their home countries.
In the list of universities administering the 2026 KNB Scholarship set by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Unissula is recorded as one of the institutions entrusted with admitting and mentoring international scholarship holders.
That trust further strengthens Unissula's position as a university that consistently develops international cooperation. In recent years the university has continued to expand its network of partnerships with universities, research institutions, professional organisations and educational institutions in various countries.
The presence of students from Kenya, Nigeria and Vietnam within the Faculty of Law is expected not only to enhance a multicultural academic atmosphere but also to open up wider space for international collaboration in the field of law. Cross-cultural interaction and the exchange of legal perspectives from various countries will be a valuable experience for both students and lecturers at Unissula.
With the arrival of these three 2026 KNB Scholarship holders, Unissula again affirms its commitment as a campus open to the global community. Through higher education that is excellent, Islamic in character and internationally oriented, Unissula continues to play its part in strengthening Indonesia's educational diplomacy while preparing a generation of world leaders with integrity and a global outlook.
